It's Already Done

“It’s already done” is something I have to remind myself of daily. One might think I have been walking with Father God long enough to have learned something about His character. Yet there are moments when I still question, wonder, and, if I am honest, doubt. How is this possible? Yet it is, and it happens to many of us, if we are honest.

Recently, we had some concerns… viable and very real concerns. While we were trying to determine what to do about the situation, the answer was already sitting in our living room. Unbeknownst to us, Father God had already provided exactly what we needed. The very thing we were trying to figure out had already been handled.

Matthew 6:8 tells us that our Father knows what we need before we ask Him. If you can, I encourage you to read the entire sixth chapter of Matthew. There are so many rich nuggets in that chapter about trusting Father God and refusing to be consumed by worry. So, did I get it? Do I still struggle with this? The answer is yes, I do, even now.

I currently have a project that I am concerned about completing. What is strange is that I have no doubt that Father God is capable of doing it, nor do I doubt that He will. So, what concerns me? How it will get done and whether it will get done on time. And these are the moments when wee bits of anxiety try to creep in. It is in those moments that I have to remind myself of His Word:

When we consider everything that has been made available to us, not only through the living Word, but through the power of Jesus, His name, His intercession as He sits at the right hand of the Father, and the power, guidance, and direction of the Holy Spirit, the question becomes: Why worry?

Regarding the task I was so worried about, here is how it worked out: I sat down to work and whispered a prayer. Within five minutes, the very thing I had worried over and worked on for weeks, trying one thing after another to accomplish it… was done. A whispered prayer, and within five minutes, voilà… it was done! Why? Because it was already done.

Father God had already determined the how, the who, and the when. He knew when He was going to allow it to come together and release the answer. It had already been determined and established. So why are we so worried, so concerned, and so often in the way, when we know, or should believe, that He is the way, has already made the way, and will reveal the way?

If you are like me, be honest with yourself and with Father God. He already knows what you need before you ask, and He knows your thoughts before you think them. His Word tells us that sometimes we do not have because we do not ask. It also assures us that when we ask according to His will, He hears us.

Jesus invites those who are weary and heavily burdened to come to Him, and He will give them rest. That rest is found in trusting Him—in His peace, His promises, and His provision, however He chooses to provide. Why? Because it’s already done!
